ROMAN COLONIES & CITIZENSHIP
The Greek colonies came to Italy. They were interested in colonizing Italy. By the time Greek colonists came to Italy many people inhabited the peninsula. The patricians declared Rome a republic. Most of Rome's inhabitants were plebeians. As citizens, both the plebeians and the patricians had rights. They had the right to vote, responsibilities, such as paying taxes and serving in the military.
This graph shows the difference between the Patricians and the Plebeians. It shows that Patricians were upper class and Plebeians were lower class people.
