ROMAN VIRTUES AND RELIGION
Early Romans worshiped nature spirits. The spirits were known as gods and goddesses. Priests known as soothsayers believed that they could gain knowledge of future events by observing the flight of birds or intestines of animals. Romans were influenced by Greek culture. They took Greek deities and gave them Roman names. They also made their gods look Greek. Families privately worshiped their ancestral spirits and their storeroom guardians. Later on Romans adopted Christianity.
On this Roman Gods Family Tree it shows the whole family and who are the parents of each god or goddess. It shows that the gods Mercury and Venus are children of Jupiter, Maia, and Dione. You can tell by the family tree that Jupiter has many children. It also shows the rest of the family.
I got my information from the World History book (Mounir A. Farah, Andrea Berens Karls , 1999)
